PUDDINGTON and BLACK DOG W.I.
SKITTLES VICTORY
Puddington and Black Dog W.I. Skittles Team news.
(Game played on Wed.10th Dec.2003)
Below is the report from our inside source, Joan Lakeland,
the team's Vice Captain:
"Our match last night was at the Black Dog Pub, and against
Colebrooke W.I. They won the toss and elected to go first,
and started off quite well, but we won that first game by 5 points.
We then went on to loose the next by 7, then won the next by 13,
lost the next by 2, won the next by 8, and finally won the last game
by 22 points leaving us the winners once again by 39 points -
or pins as they are known.
Yes that's right, 39 points."
"We are beginning to know a little how the England rugby team
felt, but only a little! Our team all had a great evening and
what points some lost the others made up with a higher score.
But we mustn't get too complacent about it all or we will begin to
lose. You just do not know how you will play on the night,
sometimes you can not do a thing wrong, then the next week the
skittles just will not go down for love nor money. We have been
very lucky though so far, and if the other teams have been surprised
by our performances, then there is no one else more surprised than
ourselves. But saying that, our team have all played very well so far,
we can't take that away from them. Our team captain was unable to
be there last night, but will be so pleased when she finds out.
Our next match is not until after Christmas now, on the 6th January,
at the Waie Inn, Zeal Monachorum."
"Lets hope the new year is just as kind to us.
May I just say good luck to all the other teams and wish them a
Very Happy Christmas."
"See you next year."
"Joan Lakeland (Vice Captain)"
